Haze
2022
Published in the 2022 edition of Atramento (Shanghai American School Literary Magazine)
Forsaken sunlight peeling back every shadow
Pooling onto these sandpaper leaves.
Kaleidoscopic trees shielding me from the endless indigo
As I wallow in whatever I please.
These windows frame my every inkling and desire
As I watch from my perch on this mountain ablaze.
Drowning in lights, breathing in quicksand – oh how I tire
Of swimming my way through this everlasting haze.
